How do I book Penelope? You can check availability and book everything entirely online here. Simply fill out the form and hit send. If you prefer the warm and fuzzy human touch then call us on 01274 792592 we can take your booking over the phone. Once payment is made we confirm all the exciting details with you.
What about payment? We are happy to take cash, cheques or credit/debit cards. Payment is required at the time the booking is made unless you choose our instalment plan. We can also invoice you by post. A booking is unconfirmed until payment has been made. We work on the basis 'first to pay books the day!'
What's included in the price? As much as you need! Perhaps you want to be taken to the hairdressers in style, maybe you'd like your bridesmaids taking up to the Church first, so they're ready to greet you. The price includes as many repeat trips as you need. It also includes your choice of ribbons, sashes and hand tied organza rosettes or bows to complement your colour theme and chocolates and champagne.
Which areas do you cover? Penelope is perfectly happy to travel, we cover weddings in Bradford, Leeds, Halifax, Huddersfield and anywhere else that you fancy tying the knot.
How much does it cost to hire Penelope and Chauffeur? We keep it simple with one price of £249. If a booking goes over 3 hours the extra hour will be charged at £49.
Can we just book Penelope for an hour? Afraid not. The same amount of preparation is needed for an hour long booking as for a standard booking. There's a lot of love, care and very special treatment involved.
How many seats does Penelope have?Penelope has the capacity to carry 4 passengers but for optimum comfort 3 is much better.
Will I have time for photographs? Of course. Photos are a crucial part of your big day and we understand that you want to look fabulous - we'll give you plenty of time and work with your photographer to provide the best angles and shots. If you haven't chosen a photographer yet we can recommend the amazing toast of leeds.
Can I play my own music in the car? The car is fitted with a CD/MP3 Player with high quality speakers, located at front and rear. You can listen to whatever you want for as long as you like - If you bring your MP3 player with your music on it we can plug it in.
Does the chauffeur wear a uniform? Oh yes, a dark grey suit, shirt and tie, chauffeurs hat, and gloves. Smart but understated... you don't want the hired hand taking the limelight now!
Is the car in good condition? Penelope is in excellent mechanical order. She's well maintained and probably a bit spoilt. However she is a 30 year old classic and not a brand new car so there are imperfections, Penelope's equivalent of 'laughter lines'. The experience of travelling in a car like Penelope is quite unlike a journey in an average saloon. It's far more comfortable, truly luxurious and a lot of fun.
Isn't Penelope bad for the environment? Not at all! Despite her 4.2 litre engine, Penelope is the greenest girl on the block! She's been professionally converted to run on clean burning lovely LPG, an ultra low carbon fuel which is a mixture of propane and butane gases. Do you only do weddings? Penelope is happy to attend any special event for you. She's available for television, film, advertising, promotional work and music videos - call us for more info.
Can children travel in the car? Absolutely, Penelope is fitted with rear seatbelts, lap restraints and a child friendly chauffeur!
What if it rains? We store a large white parasol in the boot of the car and if the heavens open then it is the chauffeurs duty to ensure that you are protected from the elements whilst stepping from the car.
What if Penelope breaks down? Penelope is maintained to a very high standard with regular servicing and specialist care. We are members of an auto breakdown service and will attempt to get the car running as soon as possible. If a roadside repair is not possible we will offer a full refund. If something unforeseeable happens to Penelope in the days prior to the event then we will endeavour to find a replacement vehicle for you, failing this a full refund will be offered.
How do I cancel a booking? Of course, we understand that some weddings don't happen - due to unforeseen circumstances or events. 20% is non-refundable but if you have paid the balance for the booking and cancel up to fourteen days prior to the event then we will refund this amount to you - cancellations must be carried out in writing - not by e-mail - and confirmed by us or you will be liable for the full amount payable. Cancellations less than 14 days prior to the date will not be refunded.
